Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Photographers,
as the '1839 Association', we are organizing the ArtChopin 2019 International Photo Contest. It will be awarded to those works, which in the opinion of the jury in the most interesting artistic form, will emanate the music and character of Fryderyk Chopin, works in which you will find both a deep inspiration and a brilliant musical phrase, refer to the mood of the compositions, reflecting their unusual color, richness and harmony of sounds, as well as those in which the memory of the great composer will be symbolically given. Photography is here to be a form of artistic expression inspired by the work and life of an outstanding artist whose music is one of the most important elements of world cultural heritage.
The awarded and distinguished works will be presented during the exhibition at the Academy of Art in Szczecin, which will take place on October 17, 2019.

Terms and Conditions
Organiser
The contest is organised by '1839 Association' entered into the register of associations kept by the
City of Szczecin under number 130, NIP 852-265-78-84, hereinafter referred to as the 'Organizer'.
Contest supporting partners: Progressum Association, Moja Łasztownia Foundation, Stara Rzeźnia
Cultural Center of the Euroregion and the Academy of Art in Szczecin.
The theme of the contest
"ARTCHOPIN 2019"
Jury will reward works that :
in the most interesting artistic form will emanate with music and the figure of Fryderyk Chopin,
works in which you can find a deep inspiration with a genius musical phrase referring to the
mood of the compositions, reflecting their unusual color, richness and harmony of sounds,
those in which the memory of the great composer will be symbolically reflected.
The photographic works are to be a form of artistic expression inspired by the work and life of an
outstanding artist whose music is one of the most important elements of the world's cultural
heritage.
Categories
The ARTCHOPIN 2019 contest has one category: Photography.
Deadlines
4.1 The contest commences on publication date.
4.2 The deadline for entering the contest in the photography category is midnight on 24 September
2019.
4.3 The closing date for submitting works in the photography category is midnight on 25
September 2019.
4.4 The results of the Photo Contest will be announced on October 17, 2019 at the opening of the
exhibition at the Academy of Art in Szczecin, and on the next day will be given on the websites
related to the organizer: www.1839.eu, www.artchopin.com.
4.5 Contest entries or works submitted after the deadline or which do not satisfy the other formal
rules as stipulated by the present terms and conditions shall be rejected and shall be excluded from
the contest.
4.6 The winners and contestants will be informed via email about the exact place and date of the
opening of the post-competition exhibition.
Contest works in the photography category
5.1 Each registered participant may submit up to 4 (four) photographs.
5.2 The file name of each photograph has to contain: the title and the photographer's pseudonym.
5.3 Only photos stored in electronic form are accepted for the contest.
5.4 Each photo submitted for the contest must meet the following specifications:
JPG format
colours in RGB standard
min. resolution of the longer side: 3200 dpi
5.5 Competition photographs can be made with any equipment and any technique.
5.6 Works that were previously presented and / or took part in other competitions are permitted.
5.7 The submitted photographs must not infringe the rights of third parties, including third parties'
personal rights, generally accepted moral standards, must not offend the feelings of others
including religious feelings, must not breach the right to privacy or contain materials protected by
exclusive rights (e.g. copyrights) without authorisation of the exclusive rights holders.
Participants
6.1 Participation in the contest is available to photographers from around the world – both
professionals and amateurs.
6.2 Every natural person, with full or limited legal capacity to act may take part in the contest.
6.3 To take part in the contest, persons with limited legal capacity to act and minors (under the age
of 18) require written permission from their statutory representative or legal guardian, who will also
sign the application form on behalf of the participant.
6.4 The organiser's employees, members of the jury and the jury's family members are forbidden
from participating.
6.5 Participants who do not satisfy the rules as prescribed by these terms and conditions or who
provide false information shall be automatically disqualified.
6.6 Entering the contest is tantamount to acceptance of these terms and conditions.
Registration / Application
7.1 Contest participants register via the www.1839.eu website.
7.2 In order to submit works for the contest, all the required details (including name and surname,
pseudonym, contact telephone number or e-mail address) have to be provided on the form within
the deadline. Pseudonym can not suggest the real name of the author.
7.3 In completing the registration form, a contest participant declares that they hold exclusive and
unlimited copyrights to the submitted photographs and that all persons depicted on the
photographs consent to a public display and presentation thereof, with the exception of persons
who constitute a random detail on the photograph, the lack of which would not essentially affect
the overall perception of the work.
7.4 A contest participant grants a free of charge, unlimited in terms of territory and time licence to
the organiser (with a right to sub-licence) and its partners for public display of photographs
submitted to the contest in publications, on websites and in any other manner deemed necessary
for the performance of the contest and its promotion, including to produce a calendar, a photo
exhibition and shows presenting the best works submitted to the contest.
7.5 A contest participant releases the organiser and other entities involved in organising the contest
from liability on account of publishing the photographs the participant submitted to the contest,
and declares that in the event of any claims by third parties resulting from the declarations referred
to in clause 7.3 not fully reflecting the actual and/or legal state, they shall cover all costs and
organiser's damages 's associated therewith and that they shall be exclusively and fully liable on
that account.
7.6 In a situation as described in clause 6.5, the participant shall be disqualified from the contest
and shall immediately return any prize(s) awarded by the organiser.
7.7 Participation in the ARTCHOPIN 2019 competition is free.
Delivery of contest works
Competition entries in the Photography category should be sent within the time specified in point 4
of these Regulations (date and time of sending from the participant's e-mail address) by e-mail to:
artchopin2019@1839.eu with a pseudonym and competition number sent from the Organizer. Files
sent to the provided e-mail address can not exceed in total 25 GB. For larger files, please send them
via Wetransfer with the recipient 1839 Association, e-mail address: artchopin2019@1839.eu.
Jury / Judging works
9.1 The works submitted for the contest shall by judged by jurors appointed by the organiser under
the guidance of the art photographer prof. Sergiusz Sachno.
9.2 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and three distinctions will be chosen from among the works sent in for
the contest.
9.3 The jury may split the prizes differently or award additional prizes.
9.4 The results of the contest in the Photography category will be announced during the opening of
the post-competition exhibition on October 17, 2019 at the Academy of Art in Szczecin.

Until the competition results are announced, the prize pool may be increased.
Presentation of contest works
11.1 The awarded works and those qualified for the exhibition will be presented at the post-
competition exhibition at the Academy of Art in Szczecin and other places and dates determined by
the Organizer.
11.2 The Organizer will inform about the results of the Competition on the websites www.1839.eu
and www.artchopin.com as well as through the media and partners, using the name and surname
of the contest Winners, to which the Participant taking part in the Contest agrees.
Final provisions
12.1 The terms and conditions of this contest are available at the Organizer's office and on the
websites: www.1839.eu, www.artchopin.com.The organizer reserves the right to change the terms
and conditions, provided that it does not violate the already acquired participant rights.
12.2 People who fail to meet any of the requirements set out in these Regulations or provide false
information will be automatically disqualified.
12.3 In matters not covered by these Terms and conditions, the provisions of Polish law shall apply.
12.4 For the presentation and publication by the Organizer and its partners photographs sent for
the contest, the participant is not entitled to any remuneration.
15.5 Participants' data sent to the contest will be processed by the Organizer in order to perform
the duties related to the contest, in order to send information from the Organizer (if the participant
agrees in the registration process) and consider the complaint. Contest participants acknowledge
that they have the right to access their data and correct them.
12.6 Providing data and consenting to its processing in order to perform duties related to the
contest and considering complaints is voluntary, but necessary to participate in the contest.
12.7 Terms and conditions come into force on 1 August 2019.
12.8 By submitting the entry to the contest, the Participant confirms that they agree to the rules of
the contest contained in these Terms and conditions.

12.10 Exhibition expositions will be made at the organizer's expense and remain its property,
respecting the copyright of the participants.
